Lovin Life in Oregon

Well folks, I’m still in Sutherlin, OR and loving every minute of it. I started off to “Live my Dream” of travel around the USA and stop for awhile and work/volunteer and then travel on. But I seem to be stuck in Oregon and I don’t mind a bit. I think the “dream” is evolving and I’ll be spending more time in Oregon than I had anticipated. What’s not to love here – weather, people, scenery, wildlife, mountains, ocean, beaches, waterfalls, rivers, lakes, everything you can think of – and the cost of living here at the SKP park is very low. So, I’m planning on traveling out from here, but this is definitely my home base.
Nancy is coming to visit in June and we’re going to take about a 2-week tour of the Northwest. Tentatively we’ll head up the road a short ways for a mini rally and then head on up to Washington via the byways, rather than the highways. We’ve no particular agenda, just moseying around and seeing the sights. I’d like to see the lavender farms in Sequim, WA and maybe stop at Bainbridge Island, then cruise through Olympic National Park and down through the volcanoes – Mt Rainier, Mt. St. Helen’s and Mt. Hood and on back home. I’ll tow my little toad so we’ll be able to park Monte and still be able to drive around the various areas. I’m really looking forward to traveling with Nancy. We always have a great time. Before we start our tour, we’ll spend a couple of days here in Sutherlin taking day trips to various places – the covered bridges, the waterfalls and, of course, the wine tours.
Still don’t know my plans beyond the month of June. I’ve made a couple of commitments here at the Park for July and August, so guess I’ll see what summer is like in Sutherlin. I may head south this winter, and then again I may not. Gee it’s nice to be footloose and fancy free. I’d have made a good gypsy.
The last couple of days have been in the high 80’s, so Toby and I packed up a picnic lunch and headed for the coast where the temps were in the high 60’s. We had a great time exploring all the little towns along the coast from Reedsport to Bandon. I now have 3 favorites along the central coast – Winchester Bay, Charleston, and Bandon.
Hope you are all having a great summer. Check on me every once in a while. Love, Kris
