Beautiful Drive to Sutherlin, OR
While here in Sutherlin I have seen a small herd of deer munching away on the clubhouse lawn as Toby and I walked by. They were poised to take off but apparently we were non- threatening so they went back to grazing as we passed by. This morning a flock of turkeys were in the field as once again, Toby and I walked by. I’ve been hearing them every morning, but this was the first time I saw them. A cougar has been sighted in our park storage area back in the hills, so Toby and I don’t walk there. And the jack rabbits that are throughout the park are as big as Toby and that’s not including their enormous ears.
After being here a few days I remember why I put my name on the waiting list for a site. It is truly beautiful here. The town is approximately 7,000 people, temps range from 33-85 degrees. Currently the days are getting into the 70’s and the nights are in the 40’s. Great weather. I checked my location on the waiting list and I am now #15 so maybe in the next 6 months to a year my name will rise to the top.
I haven’t started touring the area very much yet, but I have joined a twice weekly hour long line dance class. It’s really fun and more exercise than I expected. Some of the dances are really fast and get the old heart apumping. Next week is the Chapter 9 Rally being held here and I expect that to be fun too. Fortunately I have a bit of time to take the tours and I do have them organized so that I can get everywhere I want within the month that I’m here. Meanwhile, it’s been kind of nice to just relax, read a couple of books, watch a little TV and meet my neighbors.
Til later, Kris
